Agency, April 30: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured their fourth victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a 14-run win over Delhi Capitals in a thrilling match held on Tuesday night.
Chasing a daunting target of 205 runs, Delhi managed to score 190 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Faf du Plessis led Delhi’s scoring with a solid 62, while skipper Axar Patel contributed 43. Vipraj Nigam added 38 runs and Karun Nair chipped in with 15.
KKR’s bowling unit delivered a collective performance. Sunil Narine starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets, while Varun Chakaravarthy grabbed 2. Anukul Roy, Vaibhav Arora, and Andre Russell claimed a wicket each.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being sent to bat at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, KKR posted a competitive total of 204 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Ankkrish Raghuvanshi top-scored with 44 runs, followed by Rinku Singh with 36, Sunil Narine with 27, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz and skipper Ajinkya Rahane each contributing 26.
For Delhi, Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets. Vipraj Nigam and Axar Patel took 2 wickets apiece, while Dushmantha Chameera claimed one.
With this win, Kolkata climbed to seventh place on the points table with 9 points from 10 matches. Delhi, with 12 points from the same number of games, remains in fourth position.
