Bayern Munich beat Dortmund to win German Super Cup

Agency, Aug 23: Bayern Munich lifted the German Super Cup after defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-1 on Saturday night to claim their first trophy of the new season.

Playing at Signal Iduna Park, Bayern secured the victory through goals from Nathaniel Brown and Michael Olise, while Fabio Silva scored Dortmund’s only goal.

Bayern took the lead in the 28th minute when Brown converted a pass from Olise to put the visitors 1-0 ahead.

Olise then doubled Bayern’s advantage in first-half stoppage time, finishing to make it 2-0 before the break.

Dortmund responded in the 75th minute when Silva found the net to give the hosts hope of a comeback.

Dortmund’s task became even more difficult in the 90th minute when defender Ramy Bensebaini was sent off, leaving the hosts with 10 players for the remainder of the match.

Neither side could add to the score in the closing minutes, as Bayern held on for a 2-1 victory and secured the German Super Cup title.
