Kathmandu, Aug 30: China has sent 50 tonnes of emergency relief supplies to Nepal along with a rescue team as the country continues relief and rescue efforts following the recent disaster.
Two Y-20 large transport aircraft of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force landed at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu at around 7 a.m. Sunday, carrying the relief supplies.
The aircraft also brought four Chinese tunnel rescue experts and specialized equipment needed for rescue operations.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming, Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun, and lawmaker Dharma KC attended the handover ceremony and welcomed the Chinese rescue experts.
According to the Chinese Embassy, the two aircraft departed from Shuangliu International Airport in Chengdu and arrived in Kathmandu after a flight of about three hours.
The relief package includes 13,200 items, including tents, blankets, sleeping bags, dry biscuits and first-aid supplies. The total consignment weighs 50 tonnes.
