Agency, April 29: Powered by a sensational knock from 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Rajasthan Royals clinched a commanding victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the match held on Monday night, Rajasthan defeated Gujarat Titans by eight wickets to secure their third win of the tournament.
Chasing a daunting target of 210 runs, Rajasthan made it look easy, reaching 212 runs for the loss of just two wickets in only 16 overs. Vaibhav starred with the bat, smashing 101 runs off just 38 balls, including 11 sixes and 7 fours. With this feat, he became the youngest player ever to score both a half-century and a century in IPL and T20 cricket history. His century came off just 35 balls, making it the second-fastest century in IPL history.
For Rajasthan, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed a solid 70 runs, while Riyan Parag added 32 runs to seal the chase.
Earlier, batting first at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Gujarat Titans posted a formidable 209/4 in their 20 overs. Captain Shubman Gill led the charge with 84 runs, supported by Jos Buttler with 50 runs, Sai Sudharsan with 39, and Washington Sundar with 13.
In the bowling department, Rajasthan’s Maheesh Theekshana picked up two wickets, while Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma chipped in with one wicket each.
With this win, Rajasthan climbed to eighth place on the points table with 6 points from 10 matches. Meanwhile, Gujarat, having played one game fewer, remain in third place with 12 points.
