Kathmandu, Sept 26: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, had a meeting with United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary-General and Head of the Department of Operational Support, Atul Khare, on Friday.
On the sidelines meeting held at New York during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, matters related to Nepal-UN collaboration and UN peacekeeping were discussed, Minister Khanal’s secretariat informed.
The UN Department of Operational Support has been providing necessary operational and support services for UN bodies worldwide.
On the occasion, Minister Khanal discussed Nepal’s long-term and continuous contribution to UN peacekeeping.
He emphasized that Nepal has been deploying military and security personnel in various UN peacekeeping missions for global peace and security, and that Nepal’s commitment to peacekeeping will continue.
In the meeting, the two discussed various operational and managerial aspects facing by Nepali peacekeepers during peacekeeping missions, support required, and ways to make UN peacekeeping missions further effective.
