Bhotekoshi flood: Death toll climbs to 734; 2,699 rescued so far

Kathmandu, Aug 30: The death toll in the devastating flash floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems on August 26 has reached 734.

According to the data released by the Nepal Police Headquarters as of 8:00 am today, such a number of bodies were retrieved from Rasuwa ( 13), Dhading (50), Tanahu (36), Nuwakot (52), Gorkha, (58), Chitwan (259), Nawalparasai East (185) and Nawalparasi West (82).
The security personnel rescued 676 form Rasuwa, 2,020 form Nuwakot, and 3 from Dhading districts. The injured are being treated in various hospitals in Kathmandu, while 160 have returned home following the recovery.

Meanwhile, a total of 84 employees of the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and the Armed Police Force have remained unaccounted for since the floods. Among them, 44 are NA personnel, 27 Nepal Police and 13 APF personnel.
