Manchester, Jan 17: Manchester United secured an impressive 2–0 victory over rivals Manchester City in the English Premier League Manchester derby on Saturday evening.
Playing at their home ground, Old Trafford, United delivered a disciplined and clinical performance to seal all three points. After a goalless first half, Bryan Mbeumo broke the deadlock in the 65th minute to give the hosts the lead.
United doubled their advantage in the 76th minute when Patrick Dorgu finished confidently following a well-timed assist from Matheus Cunha. Despite City’s efforts to stage a comeback, United’s defense held firm for the remainder of the match.
The win lifts Manchester United to fourth place in the league table with 35 points from 22 matches. Manchester City, meanwhile, remain second with 43 points from the same number of games.
The victory also marked a winning return for Michael Carrick in his first match back as United’s head coach, adding further significance to the derby triumph.
