Kathmandu, May 29: Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has pointed out the need to move ahead with a firm determination to further enliven our democracy on the basis of liberal ideals, inclusiveness, equality and justice.
In his message today on the occasion of the Republic Day, the Vice President said the main spirit of the republican system is to discharge duty by the people’s representatives for people, and added that our federal democratic republic system will be efficient, robust and live if we could move ahead by internalizing the rights and duties given by the constitution.
The Republic Day is not only a celebration for us but an opportunity for self-assessment, according to the Vice President.
Vice President Yadav has observed that the republican system could not be robust without active participation of marginalized, suppressed and oppressed communities.
Likewise, National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal has said that a prosperous republican system is an option to the republic.
In his message of best wishes today, the NA Chairman has extended best wishes to all Nepalis at home and abroad and has added that we should advance firmly on good governance to build the socialism-oriented economy as enshrined by the constitution.
Dahal has termed the declaration of the republican system in Nepal as a historical achievement of our political consciousness, democratic aspirations and Nepali people’s sovereign rights.
Similarly, former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has urged one and all to remain firm to make the norms and values of the democratic republic more mature and result-oriented.
In her message on this day today, Bhandari has appealed to all to unite to build a self-reliant economy while maintaining the nation’s independence, national unity and territorial integrity. She has shared that good governance, economic prosperity and social justice should be our national goals.
Former President Bhandari has recalled this day as the prideful and unforgettable moment in Nepal’s political history.
In their separate messages, Vice President Yadav, National Assembly Chairman Dahal and former President Bhandari have extended heartfelt condolences to all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the republican system.
