Kathmandu, Aug. 27: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has completed an on-site inspection of Bidur and surrounding areas of Nuwakot, which have been severely affected by the floods.
Prime Minister Shah left for Nuwakot by road at 9:30 am, accompanied by Minister foe Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal.
After assessing the condition of the affected settlements and inspecting the damage, the Prime Minister returned to Kathmandu.
Following the extensive damage caused by Wednesday’s flooding along the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa and the riverine areas, Prime Minister Shah has remained actively engaged in efforts to ensure effective rescue and relief operations.
Immediately after the floods, he convened high-level meetings and issued necessary directives to the concerned authorities.
His visit to Bidur and surrounding flood-affected areas was aimed at gaining first-hand information on the situation, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
During the visit, the Prime Minister’s team conducted an on-site assessment of the physical damage caused by the floods and held detailed discussions with the local administration, security agencies and elected representatives, the Secretariat added.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Shah directed the local administration and concerned agencies to provide immediate relief to displaced families, swiftly restore disrupted roads and infrastructure, and expedite long-term rehabilitation efforts.
Following the inspection and the necessary directives, the Prime Minister’s team returned to Kathmandu later today.
