Kathmandu, Oct 5: The closed session of the Nepali Congress’s 15th National General Convention is set to begin today.
Congress Spokesperson Devraj Chalise informed that the closed session will start following a discussion within the Central Working Committee regarding the reports to be presented during the session. A meeting of the Central Working Committee is taking place at 10:00 am today.
The agenda for the closed session includes the presentation of the political report by President Gagan Kumar Thapa, the report on statute amendment by the General Secretary, and the financial report by the Treasurer.
More than 7,000 general convention representatives are participating in the closed session.
Meanwhile, the Central Election Committee for the Congress’s 15th General Convention has released the election calendar for the party’s Central Working Committee.
Raju Katuwal, Member-Secretary of the Congress Central Election Committee, announced that the election process is set to begin at 5:00 pm today. The voters list will be published at 5:00 pm, the window for filing claims and objections regarding the voter list is from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, and the publication of the final voter list at 8:30 pm.
Similarly, the schedule for tomorrow includes the filing of candidacies from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, the publication of the preliminary list of candidates at 4:30 pm, the period for claims and objections against candidacies from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, and the publication of the second list of candidates at 7:00 pm.
Furthermore, Member-Secretary Katuwal informed that the withdrawal of candidacies is permitted until 9:00 am on October 7, with the final list of candidates to be published at 10:00 am the same day. The voting is scheduled for October 8 from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Polling stations have been designated at Rastriya Sabha Griha, Khulamanch, and Pragya Bhawan. The Election Committee stated that vote counting will commence once voting concludes. The 15th general convention of the main opposition party, the NC, commenced on Sunday,
