Govt. proposes Finland to collaborate for school education reforms

Kathmandu, April 30: The government has proposed the Finnish government to collaboration for the improvement of school education in Nepal.

The proposal was put forward during the courtesy call between Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel, and Finland’s Ambassador to Nepal, Petri Puhakka, at the Ministry today.
Minister Pokharel shared that proposal for collaboration in education sector was put forwarded as education in Finland is regarded as one of the best education in the world.

Sharing that Nepal and Finland have always had pleasant and cordial relations, he thanked the Finnish government for its support in Nepal’s development.

Also the Spokesperson of the government, Minister Pokharel shared about government’s priorities and upcoming programmes, lauding the support of the Finnish government in education sector.

He also expected continuous support of Finland in development of overall sectors including education of Nepal in coming days.

Various matters including bilateral relations, mobilization of development assistance were also discussed on the occasion.

Similarly, Finnish Ambassador Puhakka expressed commitment that the Finnish government’s support in Nepal’s education sector would be continued for next five years. School Education Sector Plan and Teachers’ Education programme are now in operation with the support of Finland.

He opined that as Finland has expertise in autism and inclusive education, they are willing to support and collaborate in these educational programmes in the context when the government of Nepal has adopted a policy of establishing autism schools.
