Kathmandu, Nov 27: The Patan High Court has ordered the release of former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara on a bail amount of Rs 2 million. The decision came on Thursday from a bench comprising Judges Arjun Prasad Koirala and Tejendra Prasad Sharma Sapkota, which overturned an earlier ruling by the Kathmandu District Court.
The district court had on Ashoj 29 ordered Mahara to be remanded to judicial custody for trial. Following that decision, he had been held at Dillibazar Prison. The latest order paves the way for his release while legal proceedings continue.
