Govt advances process to open PPA

Kathmandu, Aug 20: The government has advanced a process of launching Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

A meeting of the Board of Directors at the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) chaired by Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, on Thursday forwarded the process.

During the meeting, a sub-committee was formed to develop a necessary standard for issuing new PPA. The sub-committee led by a board member Anshu Kiran Shahi is tasked with formulating criteria and presenting its findings to the board within a week.

The sub-committee includes Shaligram Bhandari, Deputy Director General of the Department of Electricity Development and an expert from the Ministry of Energy, Riwaj Sharma. Director of the Business Section serves as the Member Secretary of sub-committee.
