Jumla, May 5: The National Agriculture Modernization Programme’s Implementation Unit in Jumla has distributed mini tillers to 20 farmers at discount in a bid to ease farming activities.
The mini tillers were provided to the agricultural entrepreneurs along with training in repair of agricultural tools on Monday. The scheme is enforced to free farmers from the traditional toil, according to Khemraj Shahi, Chief of the National Agriculture Modernization Programme Implementation Office, Jumla.
Farmers are connected to modern technology with the use of mini tillers, he said, adding that five women and 15 men were provided the plowing machines at 50 percent discount in the first phase of the current fiscal year, 2082/83. Those already engaged in commercial agriculture and even those eager to foster agriculture commercially were prioritized for the assistance. Easing farming practice and increasing production is expected from the scheme.
The skills provided during training will help farmers use the agro tools safely. They were also made able to repair the plowing machines through the training.
Lately, farmers in Jumla district have shown keen interest to apply modern tools, to liberate themselves from traditional excessive hardship in agriculture and ensure better production.
