Sudurpaschim, July 27: Medical reformist Dr Govinda KC, who was staging a hunger strike in Dhangadhi for the past five days, ended his protest this evening following a seven-point deal with the government talks team. Dr KC agreed to break the hunger strike after the talks ended conclusively today.
Member of the House of Representatives (HoR) Pukar Bam and Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s Health Advisor Prof Dr Jagadish Prasad Agrawal witnessed the signing of the deal between Dr KC and the government talks team.
Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports Chudamani Paudel, Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Food Safety Dr Bikas Devkota and Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports Chakrakanta Bhusal signed the deal on behalf of the government.
The deal includes running the Shahid Dasharath Chand Health Science University in fully capacity and reforms in the medical education sector, among others. As agreed, the University will run a teaching hospital with at least 300 beds.
