Kathmandu, May 18: The Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has decided to renew the party membership of former President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
The decision was taken at a Secretariat meeting held on Monday, Deputy General Secretary Lekharaj Bhatta said.
Earlier, UML Chairman K. P. Sharma Oli had suspended the renewal of Bhandari’s membership. The party moved to renew her membership following UML’s disappointing electoral performance.
Amid the electoral setback suffered by leftist forces, reports have also surfaced of ongoing discussions for left unity under Bhandari’s leadership.
