Exam preparation classes for NG students: Minister Pokharel

Kathmandu, May 12: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel, has shared that supplementary examination preparation classes would be run for students who are in ‘non-graded (NG)’ in Secondary Education Examinations.

In today’s meeting of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee under the House of Representatives, Minister Pokharel expressed commitment to run supplementary examination preparation classes for non-graded students, adding the government’s commitment of publishing SEE results within a month has been implemented.

As per the SEE results published on Monday, 284,160 students (65.98 per cent) passed the SEE exam as well as 146,507 students were not graded. The non-graded students could seat for grade increment examination.

He mentioned that the entire infrastructure of school-level would be restructured based on the fact after carrying out detailed study of school buildings, playgrounds, teachers, staffs, students and other structures across the country.

On the occasion, lawmakers suggested the government to make special arrangement for the study of children displaced from squatter settlements, to establish Sports University and to make arrangement of e-book.

Saying the government should immediately take steps to resolve problems of teachers and to stop irregularities on school midday meal programme, they drew government’s attention to revise school-level curriculum for vocational and skills-based education.
According to information shared at the programme, there are 27,000 community schools in the country with 232,105 teachers and staffs.
