Mechi Customs Office collects Rs 4.15b revenue in first quarter of current FY

Jhapa, Oct 20: The Mechi Customs Office in Kakadbhitta has collected Rs 4.15 billion in revenue in the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2082/083 BS. The Office received 95 percent of its target for the revenue collection set in the first three months.

The target for the revenue collection for the review period was slightly more than Rs 4.36 billion, Information Officer of the Office, Ishwar Kumar Humagain, said.

According to Humagain, the largest chunk of the revenue was collected from imported goods. It is said that revenue Rs 1.8 billion was received from the imported goods in the first three months of the current fiscal year.

During the period, Rs 1.49 billion was collected from VAT and Rs 131.7 million from road maintenance and reforms tariffs.

Similarly, Rs 111 million was received from the excise duty. The Customs Office collected Rs 106 million from exported goods and Rs 395 million from the infrastructure tax. The Mechi Customs Office surpassed its target in the month of Asoj. It collected Rs 1.52 billion against the target of Rs 1.5 billion, Humagain said.
