Himalayan Cheetah to compete in ‘K-1 World Max Tournament’ in Tokyo

Kathmandu, July 2: A record holder Nepali kickboxer, Abiral Ghimire, also popular as ‘Himalayan Cheetah’ is going to vie in the ‘K-1 World Max Tournament’ to be held in Tokyo, Japan on coming September 20.

Ghimire today left for Thailand for a special training to compete with world renowned kick boxers from China, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Brazil, Poland and Armenia later in the competition. It is said that Ghimire will undergo training at his own expenses.
The prestigious kickboxing tournament will be organized by K-1 Group.

Ghimire has clinched three international kickboxing titles for the first time by winning the title of ‘K-1 Cross 175’ competition recently held in Osaka of Japan.

He demonstrated an indomitable courage in the competition thereby securing an extraordinary victory in the K-1 Cross 175, considered most prestigious competition in the field of kick boxing.

Ghimire became the World Champion in kickboxing by defeating Japanese kick boxer Jinku Oda in the second round of the very competitive match, according to Dev Ghimire, father of Abiral Ghimire, who is also former international kickboxer.

Ghimire also became the first Nepali to win the title belt in the International Sports Kickboxing Association (ISKA) World Champion, Dev shared.

A permanent resident of Gurjudhara, Balambu of Chandragiri Municipality-12 in Kathmandu, Ghimire is currently residing in Nagoya city of Japan with his family.
