Mount Shines as United Crush Athletic to Book Final Spot

Agency, April 9: Premier League giants Manchester United have stormed into the final of the UEFA Europa League with a commanding performance against Athletic Club. In the second leg of the semifinal on Thursday night, United cruised to a 4-1 victory, securing an overwhelming 7-1 win on aggregate.

At Old Trafford, United bounced back from an early setback after Mikel Jauregizar put Athletic ahead in the 31st minute. But the hosts responded with style. Mason Mount led the comeback with a brace, while Casemiro and Rasmus Højlund each added a goal.

Mount equalized in the 72nd minute, followed by Casemiro’s strike in the 80th that gave United the lead. Højlund made it 3-1 in the 85th minute, and Mount capped off a brilliant night with his second goal in stoppage time.

United had already laid the foundation with a 3-0 win in the first leg, making their place in the final a convincing one.

In the other semifinal, fellow English side Tottenham Hotspur defeated Bodo 2-0 in the second leg, completing a 5-1 aggregate victory.

The stage is now set for an all-English showdown, as Manchester United and Tottenham will clash for the Champions League title on May 21.
