Kathmandu, April 26: Lalitpur City FC and Pokhara Thunders Set to clash in NSL 2025 Final
The third edition of the Nepal Super League (NSL) is all set for an exciting finale as Lalitpur City FC takes on Pokhara Thunders for the coveted championship title. The highly anticipated final will kick off at 6 PM this evening at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor.
During the pre-match press conference held on Friday, both teams’ head coaches and captains expressed confidence and readiness, vowing to give their all in the battle for the title. Interestingly, both sides secured their spots in the final by defeating Dhangadhi FC in the playoff stage.
Lalitpur enters the final as the only unbeaten team of the tournament. They topped the league stage with 3 wins and 3 draws from 6 matches, booking a direct ticket to the first qualifier. There, they edged past Dhangadhi FC 2–1 in a dramatic encounter. Despite playing a significant portion of the match with 10 men following a red card to key player Mani Kumar Lama, Lalitpur held their ground and emerged victorious.
However, after appealing the decision, Lalitpur succeeded in overturning the red card. The NSL Organizing Committee revoked the suspension, clearing Mani to play in today’s final. providing a major boost to the squad.
On the other side, Pokhara Thunders will be playing their first-ever NSL final. They finished fourth in the league stage with two wins, two draws, and two losses. In the second qualifier, they managed a narrow but crucial 1–0 win over Dhangadhi FC, securing their spot in the final.
Lalitpur will be aiming to clinch their second consecutive NSL title and maintain their undefeated streak. Meanwhile, Pokhara will be looking to end Lalitpur’s unbeaten run and lift the trophy for the very first time.
The last time these two teams met in the league stage, Lalitpur narrowly beat Pokhara 3–2 in an entertaining contest setting the stage for an intense rematch in the final.
