592 cartons of e-cigarettes confiscated by Mustang Customs Office

Mustang, May 17: The Mustang Customs Office based at Chhoser Nhechung of Lomanthang-1 in Korola confiscated 592 cartons of e-cigarettes (vapes) on Saturday. The customs serves at the Nepal-China northern border point. The goods were being brought into Nepal in two containers while evading customs duties, according to the Office.

The containers were caught while being ferried to Lomanthang by evading customs clearance as customs employees were away for a weekly off. Customs officials and security personnel, acting on a tip-off, intercepted the containers. One carton contains 220 vape sets, it is said.

Police apprehended the drivers and launched further investigation, said District Police Office’s information officer and police inspector Santosh Basyal.

Prior to this on December 25, e-cigarettes worth Rs 22 million was confiscated. Last year, vape products confiscated at the Korola point were valued Rs 68.1 million, it is said.
