Kathmandu, Sept 8: As many as 13, 396 people have been rescued so far under search and rescue operations launched at Bhotekoshi disaster-affected areas.
Spokesperson at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), Shanti Mahat, shared that out of rescued people, 3,533 people are being sheltered at 39 holding centres in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts.
Total 1,357 bodies have been recovered so far, she informed. Of them, 98 bodies were handed over to families after identification and 5,326 people are still missing in the flood.
Of the missing people, the highest number of people (2,860) are from Rasuwa and (1,981) from Nuwakot while remaining are the personnel from Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force as well as government employees and citizens from other districts, Mahat shared.
More than 6,827 people– injured and affected ones took primary health treatment so far. Out of 327 people, who received treatment at 10 different hospitals, 242 have been discharged after treatment, the Authority informed.
Similarly, the Nepali Army provided treatment services to 3,404 people while 3,096 people received treatment from APF Nepal.
Nepal Police, Nepal Army, APF Nepal, local-level governments, different government and non-government organizations are actively engaged in search, rescue, treatment and relief management after the Bhotekoshi flood caused massive destruction of lives and physical properties.
According to the NDRRMA, search for the missing people and rescue operation has been accelerated. Likewise, relief and rehabilitation activities have been advanced at flood-hit areas in a coordinated manner.
