Chair Oli urges for action against guilty of violent incidents

Kathmandu, Sept 9: Chairperson of the CPN (UML), KP Sharma Oli, has shared that the guilty of incidents occurred on September 8 and 9, 2025, should be brought under the ambit of law by carrying out extensive investigation.

Issuing a press release today, Chair Oli, who was serving as Prime Minister when the GenZ movement had taken place, paid tribute to the youths who lost their lives after being shot during demonstration occurred on September 8 and wished those injured in the incident a speedy recovery.

He also paid tribute to the security personnel who lost their lives in course of fulfilling their duties in the circumstances after September 8 incident. Underlining that it is natural for citizens to put forth their expectations, dissatisfactions and demands before the government in democracy, the UML Chair mentioned that the constitution has ensured the rights to gather and demonstrate peacefully as well as to form and change the government through democratic way.

He recalled that the then cabinet had decided to form a commission for judicial probe into the incidents, lifting ban imposed on social media platforms, free treatment to injured ones and compensation to victim families.

UML Chair Oli argued that the arson, vandalism and attacks on Presidential Building, Official Residence of the Prime Minister, Parliament Building, Supreme Court, offices of political parties, public and private properties on September 9 should be considered as a tragic moment.
