Kavrepalanchowk, Aug 17: Two people have died on the spot and three others have sustained serious injuries when a Bolero jeep veered off and fell down some 200 metres from the road at Syaurithali, Khnikhola Rural Municipality-1 of the district this morning.
The Kavre District Police Office has reported that two people, whose names and address have not been known, died on the spot in the jeep accident.
Spokesperson and Information Officer at the District Police Office, Rabin Bista, said police personnel have been deployed to the accident site for the rescue of the injured. Those injured in the mishap are being brought to the playground at Kamidanda of Bethanchok Rural Municipality-5 by ambulance and they are coordinating to call a helicopter for rescue from there.
According to Indra Bahadur Tamang, the chairperson of Khanikhola Rural Municipality, even though arrangements were made for a helicopter to rescue the injured, it couldn’t land due to thick fog, so preparations are being made to take them to Kamidanda by ambulance.
He said that efforts are being made to take the injured from Kamidanda by helicopter for further treatment. The police have stated that more details about the incident are yet to come.
