Kathmandu, Sept 9: Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal, Ruwanthi Delpitiya, has paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, on Thursday.
At the meeting held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singha Durbar, Kathmandu, Ambassador Delpitiya handed over financial assistance amounting to one million US Dollars for the people of Nepal who were affected by recent devastating floods on behalf of the Sri Lanka government.
On the occasion, Ambassador Delpitiya expressed sorrow on behalf of the Sri Lankan government and people for the loss of lives, property, and infrastructure caused by the floods and conveyed solidarity with the Government of Nepal and the Nepali people.
She handed over the financial assistance provided by the Sri Lankan government to Foreign Minister Khanal to support ongoing humanitarian aid and relief efforts in the flood-affected areas.
On the occasion, Foreign Minister Khanal expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Sri Lankan government and its people for showing solidarity with Nepal during the difficult time of disaster and for providing financial support for relief and humanitarian efforts.
Minister Khanal noted that Sri Lanka’s support reflects the deep friendship, mutual cooperation, and collaboration between Nepal and Sri Lanka.
He also expressed gratefulness on behalf of Nepal government for the gesture of goodwill and support shown by Sri Lanka during this disaster.
