Kathmandu, July 11: Spain booked their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Belgium in the quarter-final at Los Angeles Stadium on Saturday.
Spain took the lead in the 30th minute when Fabián Ruiz found the back of the net with a well-taken finish. Belgium responded before the break, as Charles De Ketelaere scored in the 41st minute to level the match at 1-1.
With extra time looming, Mikel Merino emerged as Spain’s hero, netting the decisive goal in the 88th minute to seal a hard-fought victory and send La Roja into the last four.
Spain will now face France in a blockbuster semi-final clash as they continue their quest for the FIFA World Cup 2026 title.
