S. Korean president nominates Han Seong-sook as next PM

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on Sunday nominated Han Seong-sook as prime minister, the presidential office announced.

Han, a former chief executive of South Korean internet giant Naver, has served as Minister of SMEs and Startups since the launch of Lee’s administration. She is widely known for her experience in the technology sector and digital innovation.
If approved by the parliament, Han would become South Korea’s first female prime minister in about two decades, after former Prime Minister Han Myeong-sook, who served from 2006 to 2007.
