Karnali, June 22: Rajan Rokaya of Jumla has won the Kankre Bihar National Half Marathon.
In the race held in Surkhet today, Rokaya came first by completing the distance of 21 kilometers in one hour, nine minutes and 31 seconds.
Binod Rokaya of Kalikot came second, with a timing of one hour, nine minutes and 39 seconds, and Gopichandra Parki of APF, who came third, covered the distance in one hour, 10 minutes and 28 seconds. According to the organizers, the first, second and third place winners were awarded Rs 150,000, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
Meanwhile, Santoshi Shrestha of Dhading came first in the women’s open 10-kilometer race competition. She covered the distance in 36 minutes, 40.60 seconds. Purnalakshmi Neupane of Jumla came second after covering the distance in a total of 37 minutes 3.11 seconds, and Sirjana Pandey of Bajura came third with a timing of 39 minutes 28.88 seconds. The first, second and third place winners received Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 cash prizes along with certificates respectively.
Likewise, Krishna Rana of Surkhet won the 5-kilometer girls’ race. She covered the distance in 20 minutes 34.2 seconds followed by Antima Budha of Jumla who came second. She covered the distance in 20 minutes 45.54 seconds. Swastika Shahi of Banke, who came third, covered the distance in 21 minutes 23.25 seconds. The first, second and third place winners in the competition were awarded certificates along with Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 cash prizes respectively.
Anil Shahi of Kalikot came first in the 5-kilometer boys’ race. He covered the distance in 15 minutes 36.1 seconds. Jumla’s Yubakraj Budhale Shahi, who came second, covered the distance in 15 minutes 36.3 seconds and Surkhet’s Bhuwan Chalise, who came third, covered the distance in 16 minutes 43.3 seconds. The first, second and third place winners received Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 cash prizes along with certificates, respectively.
The event was organised jointly by Karnali Province Sports Development Council and Mid-Western Fitness Center, Surkhet.
