Report artificial shortage, if any, in the market, says Minister Chaudhary

Chitwan, July 11: Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary has requested farmers, consumers and the general public to immediately contact the ministry’s hotline number if black marketing, creating artificial shortages of agricultural inputs or artificial inflation is found.

After carrying out on-the-spot monitoring and interacting with farmers about the existing problems and solutions, she urged all concerned to immediately inform the agriculture authorities of irregularities related to the agriculture sector.

She expressed her commitment that as soon as such complaints are received the concerned agencies will be mobilized to review and take strict action against the guilty. The government has a zero tolerance policy towards any activity that is against the interests of farmers, she said.

On the occasion, Minister Chaudhary inquired with farmers about availability of fertilizers, seeds, pesticides and other agricultural inputs during the main paddy planting season, and whether there is black marketing, artificial shortages and artificial price hike in the market.

After listening to the complaints and suggestions of the farmers, she directed the concerned authorities to immediately resolve the problems.

Minister Chaudhary said that the ministry is committed to providing necessary agricultural inputs to farmers on time to increase agricultural production, control black marketing and solve problems in the agricultural sector.
