Real Madrid secure victory in La Liga, Close gap on Barcelona

Madrid, April 22: Real Madrid claimed an important win in Spain’s La Liga, defeating Deportivo Alavés 2–1 on Tuesday night. The victory narrows the gap with league leaders FC Barcelona to six points.

The match, played at the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, saw goals from Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior secure all three points for the hosts. Toni Martínez pulled one back for Alavés late in the game.

Mbappé opened the scoring in the 30th minute, giving Madrid an early advantage. Vinícius doubled the lead in the 50th minute with a well-taken goal, putting the match firmly in Madrid’s control. Alavés managed a consolation goal in stoppage time through Martínez, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.

With this win, Real Madrid move to second place with 73 points from 32 matches, while Barcelona remain at the top with 79 points, having played one game more. Meanwhile, Alavés stay 17th in the standings with 33 points from 32 games, hovering just above the relegation zone.
