‘Pokhara should be developed as int’l tourism destination’

Gandaki, Aug. 2: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Kadakraj Paudel, has said that Pokhara should be developed as an international tourism destination. Accordingly, the government has prioritised road upgradation, development of tourism infrastructure and access to international market to materialize its plan.

At an interaction on Tourism Promotion and Development of Tourism Infrastructure organized by the Pokhara Metropolitan City here on Sunday, Minister Paudel said that the quality of road networks connecting Pokhara would be enhanced to ensure comfortable travels of tourists.

On the occasion, Minister Paudel said the ministry was making special efforts to ensure international flights to and from Pokhara International Airport.

Likewise, the tourism minister said that water heritage-based tourism activities should be run in Pokhara since it is a city of lakes and rivers. The federal government has already ensured budget for the construction of Swaminarayan and Rishi Vatsayan temples.

Mayor of Pokhara Dhan Raj Acharya shared that some major milestones have been completed in Pokhara in partnership with the development partners, and many others are ongoing.
Ministry’s Secretary, government officials and stakeholders from the tourism fraternity attended the event in Pokhara.
