Kathmandu, Aug 29: Over Rs 5 billion has so far been deposited into Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund, according to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM). The government has appealed for public contribution to the Fund following the devastating flash floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems on August 26.
The OPMCM has launched the ‘Rescue Request Portal’, unveiling complete details of the amounts received from home and abroad in the Fund so far.
As of Saturday noon, over Rs 5.44 billion was deposited in the accounts of nine commercial banks operated under the Fund. Similarly, an additional 1.88 million US dollars have been deposited in the Himalayan and Laxmi Bank.
The public have been urged to use the official QR code unveiled by the government for fundraising and verify that QR code displays the name ‘Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund’ and ‘Prime Minister Fund’ before contributing to the Fund, avoiding potential financial fraud.
