Over 220 passengers stranded along Mid-Hill highway rescued

Dhorpatan (Baglung), March 21: More than 220 passengers stranded at Patihalne, the border of Baglung district and Rukum East district along Mid-Hill highway due to road obstruction following heavy rainfall from Friday night have been rescued.

The passengers were rescued after Nepali Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police removed snow using a dozer, said Assistant Chief District Officer of Rukum East, Samir Gautam.

Passenger in seven buses, 10 motorcycles and a jeep had faced problems. Gautam shared that snow on around three kilometers road occurred at bordering areas of two districts was removed.

He argued, “Snowfall had occurred from Friday evening and the road was obstructed due to this. We along with security personnel were deputed there after getting the information about road obstruction. All passengers have now headed towards their destinations.”

Chief of Area Police Office, Burtibang, Tilak Manandhar, stated that though snowfall had occurred along Baglung section, transport service was not obstructed.
Passengers have been asked to travel to Rukum, Rolpa, Jajarkot, Dolpa, Salyan, as well as other places from Kathmandu and Pokhara only after getting information about the road condition.
