Narayangadh, Sept 15: Efforts have reached a final stage to open a track as an alternative route for the damaged section of Krishna along the Prithvi Highway. The roadway was blocked after a landslide.
Some vehicles were passed through the track as a test run on Sunday. With the successful test, preparation is sped up to ensure full operation of the track.
Engineer representing a company responsible for the construction, Ishwor Nepal, informed RSS that gravelling, slope cutting and drain construction were going on as part of the alternative route.
“We’ve forwarded efforts to fully operate the route after two days, September 17,” engineer Nepal said, adding that a dozen of heavy equipment were mobilized for 10 days in the first phase of construction.
In the final phase, nearly 50 workers including skilled workforce were devoted to the construction.
“This section is risky one. If there is no additional landslip, the vehicular movement is possible in the planned date,” he added.
The track is nearly 300-metre-long and 7-metre-wide. Once the sub-base is finalized, regular transportation will be allowed.
