Nepali Youth Amrit Jha Released After Detention in Iran

Kathmandu, April 15 : Amrit Jha, a Nepali national from Udayapur who had been detained in Iran, has been released, Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal confirmed on Wednesday.

Jha, who was serving as a ship captain, was released on Wednesday afternoon. According to the minister, the Nepali Consulate General in Iran and the Nepali Embassy in Qatar are currently in contact with him.

He had been working for a Dubai-based shipping company and was taken into custody while returning to Dubai carrying oil.
