Goa, India, May 31: Nepal secured a place in the semi-finals of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 after defeating Sri Lanka 2-0 in their final Group A match on Sunday. The victory ensured Nepal finished top of the group and advanced to the knockout stage as group winners.
At the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa, Nepal produced another disciplined performance, with goals from Rashmi Kumari Ghising and Renuka Nagarkoti sealing all three points.
Nepal took the lead deep into first-half stoppage time when Rashmi found the back of the net to give her side a crucial advantage before the break.
The lead was doubled in the 62nd minute as Renuka Nagarkoti calmly converted her chance, putting Nepal firmly in control of the contest.
Sri Lanka struggled to break down Nepal’s defense, and no further goals were scored as Nepal comfortably held on for a 2-0 victory.
The win confirms Nepal’s place in the semi-finals as the winners of Group A. They will now face the runners-up of Group B in the last four.
The final Group B standings will be determined following Sunday’s match between Bangladesh and India, which will decide the group winner and runner-up.
