Janakpurdham, July 22: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and former Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said that it is necessary for pro-change political forces to cooperate in order to protect national sovereignty.
He opined that as challenges to the nation’s sovereignty, constitution, and federal system are increasing from various angles, a common understanding and cooperation among political parties that have fought for change has become essential.
The NCP coordinator expressed this while addressing to the unity meeting and party training programme of the NCP Madhesh Province held today at the Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Foundation in Janakpur.
Coordinator Dahal also administered the oath to the office bearers and members of the Madhesh Province Committee on the occasion.
“To face tough situations, cooperation is needed among the political parties that have worked together from making the 12-point agreement in the past to forming the Constituent Assembly and drafting the constitution,” Coordinator Dahal said.
He said that for that, cooperation between leftist communist forces and parties like the Nepali Congress is necessary. Leader Dahal mentioned that the initiative to create unity by consolidating leftist communist factions has largely fallen on his party’s shoulders and also said that efforts are being made with the CPN-UML regarding cooperation.
He stated that since the future of both the party and the country will not be good if the party cannot be strengthened in Madhesh Province, their party has prioritized Madhesh Province highly.
Coordinator also mentioned that the party plans to include 50 percent of youth in various party committees through the upcoming party convention in Mangsir.
In a training organized with the aim of spreading the message of unity among various leftist factions, top leaders including party coordinator Dahal, co-coordinator and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, and senior leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha will give the training.
Leaders and party activists from all eight districts of Madhesh Province are participating in the training that will continue until this evening.
