Kathmandu, Aug 3: The Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party meeting has called for the formation of a judicial probe committee to carry out a fair investigation into the recent violent incidents that occurred in Sunsari, Siraha, Dhanusha and Parsa districts.
Stating that the attention of the party was drawn towards the incidents, a meeting of the NC Parliamentary Party held on Monday expressed sorrow over the death and injuries of many people in the incidents.
After the meeting, the NC Chief Whip Basana Thapa said, “The NC strongly demands the government to form the judicial probe committee for an impartial investigation into the incidents. We also appeals to everyone to prevent from occurring such violent incidents in future.”
The meeting concluded that such incidents disrupt social harmony at a time when mutual goodwill, fraternity and social harmony have been maintained respecting each other’s religions, cultures and traditions for centuries.
Urging the government to do everything for the treatment of injured ones, the NC has appealed all sides to maintain social harmony, religious tolerance and restraint not to allow recurring such violent incidents in future.
Thapa stated that the meeting also passed ‘NC Parliamentary Party Lawmakers Coordination Framework prepared with an objective to further enhancing the relations among citizens, lawmakers and parliament as well as the ‘procedure related to appointment of member-secretary for House of Representatives and National Assembly members-2083’.
The meeting also paid tribute to NC senior leader late Gopal Man Shrestha and former minister Rajendra Kharel and passing a condolence motion.
