Maoist Centre supports election: Dahal

Gorkha, Oct 26: CPN (Maoist Centre) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said there is no alternative to holding elections in the current political situation. He said that the Constitution and democracy should be protected through elections.

Speaking at a party programme in Gorkha on Sunday, he said, “There is no reason for us to shy away from the election. Rather, it is necessary to exert pressure on the government from all sides to create an atmosphere appropriate for the polls. The election will be the best way to address the current political situation in the country.”

He argued that the environment for holding elections was gradually developing. Dahal also stressed the need to conduct the elections on the announced date, stating that the directly elected executive chief and the fully proportional electoral system, the demands of the Gen Z movement, have been the party’s agenda since the beginning.
