KATHMANDU; Chinese television channel Kangba TV, which focuses on the Himalayan region and western China, has officially started broadcasting on Net TV, a major IPTV platform in Nepal.
The launch gives Nepali viewers easier access to programs featuring the natural landscapes, ethnic cultures, traditional lifestyles and social development of western China, particularly areas inhabited by Tibetan communities.
Kangba TV has been presenting the Himalayan region through programs covering mountain scenery, local communities, traditional handicrafts, cultural heritage and the development of modern towns.
The channel’s availability in Nepal is being viewed as a new opportunity to strengthen media and cultural exchanges between Nepal and China.
As the Himalayas represent a shared geographical and cultural heritage, its content is expected to have particular appeal among Nepali audiences.
In recent years, Chinese media outlets have increased their presence in Nepal, while Nepali media platforms have also been promoting Nepal’s culture, tourism and society to Chinese audiences.
The growing two-way flow of media content is expected to further strengthen mutual understanding and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
