Kathmandu, Sept 3: Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, Maeda Toru, handed over emergency relief goods from the people and the Government of Japan to the Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Mahabir Pun, at the Humanitarian Staging Area of Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday.
The assistance package includes blankets, plastic sheets, sleeping pads, tents, and portable jerry cans for the affected communities.
In the Japan-Nepal Summit Telephone Call held on September 1 and Japan-Nepal Foreign Ministers’ Telephone Call held on August 31, both the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister expressed their condolences for the victims of the flash floods and landslides that occurred on August 26th in the areas near the Nepal-China border, conveyed their heartfelt sympathies to their families and to all those affected by the disaster. The Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister further stated that Japan stands in solidarity with Nepal and will do everything in its capacity to respond to the situation, the Embassy of Japan here stated in a press release.
The government of Japan sincerely hopes that these emergency relief goods will help alleviate the hardships faced by those affected by the disaster. It also hopes that recovery and reconstruction efforts in the affected areas will progress steadily, enabling the victims to resume their normal and peaceful lives as soon as possible.
