Kathmandu, Oct 26: The newly appointed Minister for Health and Population, Dr Sudha Sharma, assumed office on Sunday. She decided to provide psychological counseling to those injured during the Gen Z protest. It is her first decision.
Talking to media persons upon the assumption of office, Minister Dr Sharma vowed transparency in procurement of medical goods including equipment, and end of corruption. “Gen Z’s protest was for good governance and end of corruption. So, I wish I won’t hear any complaints of corruption,” she reiterated.
According to her, present government has kept in priority the issues relating to mental health.
She shared her plan that he would hold a discussion with Finance Ministry to secure budget so that free health insurance would be managed to the families of those who got martyrdom during the protest. She further said the present government is the citizen government, so only performance counts for evaluation.
The problems facing the agitating nurses over the payment rate would be addressed after holding dialogue.
Dr Sharma, who has already worked as the Health Secretary, is a specialist on gynecology and obstetrics. She is also a public health expert.
