Kathmandu, April 22: Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has announced his resignation, stepping down from the post with immediate effect amid growing public scrutiny over his financial dealings.
In a statement shared on social media on Wednesday, Gurung said the decision was taken to ensure an impartial investigation into matters related to him and to avoid any potential conflict of interest while in office.
“Given the need for a fair and unbiased probe, and to prevent any perception of conflict of interest, I have decided to resign from the position of Home Minister effective today,” he wrote.
Gurung noted that he had taken seriously the questions and concerns raised by the public in recent days, particularly regarding his shares and related issues. He had assumed office on March 26.
Calling his move a step toward upholding moral accountability, Gurung urged media professionals and the public to remain committed to truth and integrity.
“If we truly seek change, we must stand together on the path of honesty, transparency, and self-discipline,” he added.
