Govt Scraps Plan to Relocate Police Training Academy, Retains Maharajgunj Land

Kathmandu, April, 23 : The government has revoked its earlier decision to transfer the National Police Training Academy’s land in Maharajgunj to the President’s Office.

A Cabinet meeting on Thursday annulled the previous plan to hand over 114 ropani and 3 aana of land and relocate the academy elsewhere. The land will remain under the academy’s ownership, said Minister for Education and government spokesperson Sasmita Pokharel.

The meeting also decided to form a task force to study software and information technology systems within government agencies. The panel will be led by the Information and Communication Technology Advisor.

In addition, the Cabinet formed a negotiation team headed by a Joint Secretary from the Ministry of Finance to finalize agreements related to a concessional loan of 115 million US dollars from the Asian Development Bank. The loan will support the Integrated Water Supply and Sewerage Management Sector Project.
