Kathmandu, July 31: The government has reached an agreement with the families of Om Prakash Mehta and Jaya Prakash Mehta, who were killed in the clashes that occurred on July 26 in Dewangunj Rural Municipality of Sunsari district.
As agreed, the government will initiate the process to declare Om Prakash and Jaya Prakash as martyrs and provide Rs 1 million each to their families.
Likewise, the perpetrators will be booked after a fair investigation into the incident and the legal status of the Madrasa of Dewangunj Rural Municipality-3 will be probed immediately.
Similarly, one member from each of the two bereaved families will be provided with job and a memorial park would be developed in close coordination with the local government based on the recommendation of the probe committee.
Home Minister Sudan Gurung and the families’ representatives signed the agreement.
Following the agreement, the final rites of Om Prakash and Jaya Prakash are scheduled to be performed today.
