Germany reach World Cup Round of 32 with late victory over Ivory Coast

Kathmandu, June 21 : Germany became one of the first teams to secure a place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32 after defeating Ivory Coast 2-1 on Sunday morning.

At Toronto Stadium, substitute Deniz Undav emerged as the hero, scoring twice to overturn an early deficit and send Germany into the knockout stage.

Ivory Coast took the lead in the 30th minute through Franck Kessié and looked set to claim a crucial result. However, Germany fought back strongly in the second half.

Undav, who had come off the bench, leveled the score in the 68th minute just eight minutes after entering the match. As the game appeared headed for a draw, the striker struck again in the fourth minute of stoppage time, completing a dramatic comeback and securing all three points for Germany.

With the victory, Germany tops Group E with six points from two matches and has officially booked its place in the Round of 32. Ivory Coast remains second in the group with three points from two matches.
