Kathmandu, Oct 18: The general convention organizing committee’s coordinator of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that solidarity from all sides was needed to successfully hold the House of Representatives (HoR) elections slated for March 5, 2026.
At a greetings exchange and reception programme at the party headquarters on Saturday organized on the occasion of Tihar, Nepal Sambat and Chhath Parva, the former Prime Minister viewed that all nationalists, democratic and revolutionary forces should be united to resolve the current political challenges.
“We are going through a very critical moment. The simplest, inclusive and nationalist alternative to safeguard the constitution and democracy is to hold the elections on March 5,” he added.
The Maoist Centre’s Coordinator stated that the current interim government was serious to conduct the polls in the given time and expressed confidence that the international community too will play a positive role to make the elections a success.
On the occasion, Prachanda stressed for the constitution amendment to incorporate the aspirations of the Gen-Z protests and added that the new parliament should get into the process to amend the constitution. “We are ready to fulfill the people’s aspirations,” he mentioned.
He was of the view that holding timely elections with national consensus was inevitable to avoid further anarchy in the country adding that the upcoming elections were a part of the constitutional and democratic process.
Similarly, Prachanda reiterated that the unification of the left parties affiliated to the Socialist Front will be announced soon.
The former Prime Minister termed the Generation-Z as a successor of the revolutionary movement and added that the youth generation has justified its political presence through the movement. “They are not of others’ but the successor of the revolutionary,” Dahal added.
