Kathmandu, Sept 27 : Police have arrested former Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana from his residence in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.
Rana was taken into custody following a complaint lodged at the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office. However, authorities have not disclosed details of the complaint.
Rana had faced widespread controversy over serious allegations, including claims that he sought a share in the Cabinet while serving as head of the judiciary.
He assumed office as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on January 2, 2019. An impeachment motion was registered against him in Parliament on February 13, 2022.
