Gorkha, October, 11 : Floodwaters in the Budhi Gandaki River have swept away 35 houses in Paiyu and Bagar villages of Chum Nubri Rural Municipality in Gorkha district.
The flood has also caused extensive damage in Dobhan, Ghattikhola, Jagat and Salleri villages, according to Laxmi Gurung, vice-chairperson of Chum Nubri Rural Municipality.
Gurung told the National News Agency (RSS) that the flood entered the villages at around 4 a.m. today, forcing residents to flee to safer locations.
Markets in Ward No. 3 of Chum Nubri Rural Municipality have also suffered significant damage, she said.
Amid the rising flood risk, residents of Khorlabesi, Machhakhola, Soti, Arkhet and Arughat in Dharche Rural Municipality, as well as residents of Sirdibas, have been urged to move to safer places, said Akash Kandel, a police inspector at the District Police Office in Gorkha.
No casualties have been reported so far. Details of the overall damage are yet to be established.
